About Me

Dirk Fletcher: Chicago, Illinois, United States; Photography is one of the rare few disciplines that requires a creative application of a technical skill set, I think it's that blend that attracts me. The majority of this blog details the cameras that I've dreamt up and built in my basement as well as some fun projects along the way. I have a BA from Brooks Institute of Photography and an MFA in Independent Filmmaking from Governors State University. I was the photographer at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for five years and was respondsible for Chicago's only pure digital photography degree programs focusing exclusively on the commercial aspects of the photo industry. After 12 years as the Department Chair at Harrington College of Design, I accepted a technical position with Canon USA working with professional cinematographers everyday.
